Robert Cowherd, PhD

Robert is currently a Professor at Wentworth Institute of Technology and an architectural and urban designer and historian focusing on Southeast Asia and Latin America. His teaching and research connect long historical trajectories to global challenges. He is on the Board of the Global Architectural History Teaching Collaborative. His research on design as a catalyst for social transformation in Medellin, Colombia was supported by a Fulbright Scholar Award. His work on the question of reflexivity is the focus of “Notes on Post-Criticality: Towards an Architecture of Reflexive Modernisation” Footprint 3, no. 1 (January 2009): 65–76, https://doi.org/10.7480/footprint/3/1/700. Robert has a PhD in History and Theory of Architecture and an Urban Design Certificate from MIT, and a BArch in from The Cooper Union.
